The good news is that Candida is treatable. The bad news is that treatment definitely takes time and patience.
I’m going to assume you know you have Candida for sure because you’ve seen a doctor or naturopath.
That said, you’re going to need to find a Candida diet protocol to follow. When you follow this diet, which is admittedly strict, you’re going to focus on removing foods that can “feed” the Candida yeast organism. You’ll cut out sugars, processed foods and chemicals, carbohydrates, and all of the junk you’re used to eating. You’ll replace those with organic meats, fresh vegetables, and yogurt, amongst other healthy foods.
The foods you eat contribute to creating an environment in which Candida can grow, but eliminating those foods alone won’t work. You’ll also need to take a probiotic to support the growth of good bacteria in your digestive tract; because, ultimately, that imbalance is a huge cause of your growth to begin with. You’ll likely also take some anti-fungal supplements to kill off your existing overgrowth while taking a couple of others to make sure your die-off symptoms are under control and your immune system is supported and strengthened.
Finally, you’ll need to do a little bit of work to relax and reduce the stress in your life. Our diets and medications are a huge contributing factor, but our busy lifestyles cause a lot of stress – which in turn depletes your immune system and makes you more susceptible to yeast infections.
Make sure you talk to a doctor or naturopath for guidance on the right protocol and supplements for your own individual condition; and make sure you look for a good support group or forum. Don’t give up on the protocol too soon, either. Treating Candida is a slow process, but it’s worth the work.
