This question is for Feroj, I have low level of blood sugar and I was told by my doctor that I have hypoglycemia and my question is what is the connection of my health problem with candida?

Can you recommend how I can get my blood sugar back to normal? I have a lot of other signs and symptoms of candida.

Yes, it seems that Candida and hypoglycemia are linked in a complementary manner. Hypoglycemic conditions are often a resultant of the inability of your body to balance insulin and glucose under certain conditions such as the ones presented by Candida overgrowth. Indeed, it is now an established fact that one of the crucial symptoms of Candida overgrowth is hypoglycemia. On the other hand, persons suffering from hypoglycemia have sugar cravings. They also resort to taking more sugars to reduce the symptoms of hypoglycemia but only ends up promoting the growth of the yeast. So, if you are struggling with hypoglycemic symptoms you might do well to look for Candidiasis.

The hypoglycemic condition:

Hypoglycemia is a condition of low blood sugar level which is the route cause of almost all types of sugar regulatory problems. Saunders has outlined in his book that generally hypoglycemia shows up as a sudden blood glucose drop in most of the individuals (2-3) hours after meal which tempts you to eat to restore this condition back to normality. Hypoglycemia is also countered by the muscle tissue breakdown and conversion of the proteins into glucose. You may experience a sudden dip in your energy level if having hypoglycemia. The aforesaid conditions are encountered under normal conditions. But if the hypoglycemia persists longer as with Candida overgrowth it may lead to other symptoms.

Symptoms common to both hypoglycemia and Candida overgrowth:

According to Dr. Cryer, the symptoms commonly observed in patients with Candidiasis and hypoglycemia include irritability, fatigue, cravings for sugar, brain fog onset, urination complications, gut disturbances, increased nausea and sweating. Infact there is so much similarity between the symptoms that a specific diet for one has been able to reduce the symptoms of the other problem. So, if you are facing these hypoglycemic symptoms, it becomes necessary to check whether Candida has overgrown in your body.

The Candida connection to hypoglycemia:

Dr. Bill Quick was amazed to find that in a recent survey conducted by the American College of Endocrinology with 2530 individuals many of them were unaware of the cause of hypoglycemia while most of them had no idea about the medication under such conditions. With so many symptoms in common Candida is surely a major factor behind your low blood sugar level. Infact, hypoglycemia is a known symptom of Candida infection. Candida overgrowth can be associated to the hypoglycemic conditions in a number of ways. It causes significant shift in your hormonal release and functioning. Candida overgrowth affects your thyroid by causing a reduction in cellular respiration levels which in turn results in hypoglycemia. If the hormonal supply from the thyroid is low, it will affect progesterone that can put a check on hypoglycemia. Candida also directly interferes with the release of hormones like progesterone and estrogen and thereby disrupting normal blood sugar regulation. Moreover, in recent times, it is reported that the proteases (enzymes that break proteins) from Candida can inhibit the functioning of insulin, a critical player in controlling blood sugar levels in the body. Hypoglycemic patient always feel the urge to compensate for the low blood sugar level and ends up overeating easily digestible sugars like sucrose which shoots up the sugar levels of the body. This in turn favors the growth of the yeast thereby completing a vicious cycle. It is important to know before restoring back the low sugar levels back to normal whether you are a victim of Candida.

Common intervention in hypoglycemia and Candidiasis:

Hypoglycemia is a very difficult condition to treat if it’s co-occurring with Candida overgrowth by normal therapeutic interventions. As the mere normalization of the sugar levels might end up in the promotion of the yeast growth. According to Dr. Davies, the probiotics can be successfully used against the menace of hypoglycemia. Therefore, the strategy could be to provide the body with indigestible sugars (prebiotics) rather than the easily digestible ones like sucrose. However, our body lacks the capacity to break these sugars down. The probiotics with their rich repertoire of polysaccharidases (enzymes needed to metabolize the complex sugars) are highly potent in breaking down the prebiotics. Moreover, the probiotics can outgrow Candida in quick time. Pick up a well balanced probiotic product like ‘Probacto’ and get yourself an improved health without Candida or hypoglycemia.
