What's the difference between Candida and a Yeast Infection?

I often hear the terms mixed up, so are they actually the same or are they different?

There are many different species of candida such as candida albicans and there are different species of yeast infection. Yeast infection can be known as candidiasis, and many times when something is referred to as a yeast infection, people are thinking it is vaginal, but it is not strictly limited to that.

The terms are pretty much interchangeable, and webmd lists them as the same.
